    John Frandsen's Opera "Martyriet"

    Kottos will give the world premiere of a new opera by composer John Frandsen entitled ‘Martyriet’ (Martyrdom), describing the last days of Kaj Munk (1898-1944) the Danish writer, resistance fighter and priest. Scored for a quartet of accordion, bouzouki, recorder and cello, where the two solo parts will be sung by rising star counter-tenor Morten Grove Frandsen and the Norwegian soprano Liv Oddveig Midtmageli. The premiere will take place at Takkelloftet at The Royal Danish Opera, January 28, with approx. 10 performances in total in february 2017. Composer John Frandsen was recently awarded the prestigious Carl Nielsen & Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen’s 2016 Prize and received great acclaim not least for his work “Requiem” (2013) written for The Danish National Symphony Orchestra.
